I like to think about Kung Fu Panda because of the silly and goofy movement that were however able to change the history of a vast chinese region many years ago.
That was fantasy but the one that is happening right now is not so "fantasy" but yet silly and goofy however able to change ranking in a vast Internet region called Google.
Before going into details I want to explain something. In the past days, months and years Google engine was working like a regular search engine and Yahoo and Bing were doing all possible to show almost the same results based on the same search query so if you was googling "check my seo" on both Yahoo, Bing and Google you was almost going to see the same results. Today the difference is massive. Search "check my seo" on both Yahoo, Bing and Google (or also other ones, like Yandex) and you'll find that the only one that will show almost different results is just Google.
Because Google algo changed and became smarter, it take care of location (people in different countries or states will see different results), friends (you can see what your friends recommend.. I always check global results) and now, thanks to Google Panda 4.0... sites with poor quality content won't be able to go up and rank better. Let's say that Google Panda 4.0 is a firewall, a filter that prevent bad quality content to arrive on page 1 nor into the top 5 results. So yeah, Google Panda 4.0 is a major update that teach the engine how to recognize poor quality content's websites and to kick them to bottom results or far pages with a memorable kung fu technique called Butterfly Kick. Ok, the last sentence was made up, but I like to imagine this huge panda kicking results away from users which is cool... and effective!
According to Google this is a very "fairy tales" update but for sure will have repercussions on how a website will rank on the giant search engine and also a fundamental and deep change that will be improved within the next months (or weeks I guess) when Goo, the Google's Kung-Fu Panda will be for sure updated again.
How your website will be affected?
Well, I've been reading of disasters occurred to website owners where the website totally disappeared, other webmaster that lost revenues but I bet that content still rock and that if your content is original and good you won't suffer major changes. Again, your website will rank better if your content is good, if your html code is fine and your headings and meta tags are correct.
ChkMe.com during years is still on page one for the keywords I always tried to optimize, lost position 1st but yet page one, respectable 6th position in the USA, position first for other countries. I do not like PPC and Advertisement so once again the challenge about SEO and PPC show one victorious hero: SEO. Pay attention to your on site SEO, take care of your content and no Google Panda will be able to kick you away from the scene!
